St Andrew's Way

St Andrew's Way" route

Who doesn't go alive?
The Camiño de San Andrés is a traditional route that crosses Valdoviño, forming part of a historic route that has been travelled by pilgrims for centuries. This route, which Frai Martín Sarmiento also travelled in the 18th century, has become an outstanding event in the municipality's calendar of activities, inviting walkers to enjoy the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the place.

Along the way, travellers will be able to discover emblematic places such as the Portonovo Landmark, where the borders between various municipalities are reached, and the Encoro das Forcadas, an important point for the water ministry as well as for lecterns and outdoor sports. The road also takes us to the Chapel of Fame, a traditional resting place for pilgrims, surrounded by rural surroundings that retain their authentic essence.

The final stretch in Valdoviño leads to Porto do Cabo, a town with strong links to pilgrims. This place is characterised by its medieval hospital for walkers and the iconic bridge that gives way to the lands of Cedeira. The route combines nature, history and devotion, offering walkers an unforgettable experience that connects the past with the present at every step.
