Route "A canon journey"
Meirás - Monte da Vela
An exciting route that combines history, spectacular landscapes and nature in the parish of Meirás. Starting from Río beach, in front of the A Roda hotel, the route ascends to Pico da Vela, also known as Montefaro or Alto de Campelo. During this ascent, the surroundings envelop us with panoramic views of the Artabra Coast and the beaches of Meirás and A Frouxeira, as well as the valleys of Meirás and Valdoviño.
The top of Monte da Vela is a highlight of the route, from where you can enjoy an impressive view of Campelo beach, the coastline that stretches out to the faro de Cobas and the surrounding areas, including the municipality of Narón and the Atlantic Ocean. As well as the natural beauty, the hill is home to historical remains of old military installations, such as tunnels and barracks, which add a touch of adventure and connection with the past to the experience.
The route descends gradually from the summit, offering a contrast between the intensity of the climb and the relaxing descent towards the starting point. The changing colours and light of the landscape throughout the day make every moment on the route unique. This combination of history, nature and panoramic views makes this route a complete and immersive experience.
